"وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا"
(Quran 25:63)
"And [true] servants of the Most Gracious are [only] they who walk gently upon earth..." - Muhammad Asad
This verse describes the ideal believers as those who move through life with humility and gentleness, avoiding arrogance and harshness - the very character we embody in serving Allah's houses
Founded with the sincere intention of earning Allah's pleasure, The Mosque Cleaning Service began by following the Prophetic tradition: "الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الإِيمَانِ" - "Purification is half of faith."
Our founder was inspired to establish this service after a profound interaction during a visit to a masjid for janaza prayers. When a Muslim brother asked to use the washroom facilities, our founder encouraged him to use those available at the masjid. However, the brother politely declined, explaining that facilities in masjids are generally not maintained to acceptable standards of cleanliness.
This response deeply troubled our founder. The masjids are the very places where we are first taught about purification and spiritual cleanliness - how could their physical state not reflect these fundamental Islamic values?
Determined to understand the scope of this problem, our founder embarked on a journey across the country, visiting and speaking with stakeholders of masjids throughout the UK. What he discovered was both enlightening and concerning: most masjids are maintained by teams of dedicated volunteers who genuinely love serving the House of Allah.
However, these devoted individuals often struggle to balance their daily responsibilities, work commitments, and varying levels of experience, resulting in inconsistent cleaning standards and processes.
Following the Islamic principle of ihsan (excellence in worship and service), we recognised that masjids require specialist care from professionals who combine technical expertise with deep Islamic knowledge. This includes understanding the fiqh of cleanliness, the critical importance of tahara (purification), and the proper adab (etiquette) required when working in sacred spaces.
Our immediate focus centres on ensuring that masjid carpets - the primary furniture used by every worshipper - receive thorough professional cleaning at least annually. These sajjadah are where Muslims place their faces during sujood, making their cleanliness not just preferable, but essential for maintaining the sanctity of worship.
Looking toward the future, we aim to expand our services to include specialised care for wudhu and toilet facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of Islamic hygiene. We also plan to offer additional maintenance services such as window cleaning and elevated cleaning systems for the removal of dust from domes and architectural features. Our ultimate vision is to provide a fully integrated Islamic Facilities Management service that honours the sacred nature of these blessed spaces.
Today, by Allah's grace and through His guidance, we are honoured to serve all masjids across the UK. We have professionally cleaned thousands of sajjadah (prayer carpets) while maintaining the highest standards of both Islamic conduct and professional excellence, ensuring that every service we provide reflects the reverence these sacred spaces deserve.
"أَحَبُّ الْبِقَاعِ إِلَى اللَّهِ الْمَسَاجِدُ"
"The most beloved places to Allah are the masjids" - Sahih Muslim
This hadith guides our mission. If masjids are the most beloved places to Allah, then maintaining their cleanliness and beauty becomes an act of worship and a means of earning His pleasure.
We approach every masjid with taqwa (God-consciousness), understanding that we are working in the houses of Allah.
Following the hadith of Jibreel عليه السلام, we perform our work with ihsan - as if we see Allah, knowing He sees us.
We consider the care of Allah's houses as a sacred amanah (trust), following Islamic fiqh and adab.
"وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ"
(Quran 5:2)
"And cooperate in righteousness and piety" - Let us help preserve the beauty and sanctity of your masjid's prayer carpets. May Allah reward your efforts.
